The film presents a diverting look at four island locations across the globe, enhanced by some strikingly original music. The cinematography is pleasing throughout as we journey first to the Galapagos Islands, habitat for enormous tortoises and iguanas, then onward to the Guadeloupes where massive elephant seals preside over the shoreline. Those seals brought back memories of my one experience in a hostel, when someone nearby snored with enough force to rouse everyone. The film continues south to the Falkland Islands, introducing us to Rockhopper penguins. With waves crashing against the cliffs with the power to damage a large ship, these small creatures appear to rebound safely from the stone before making a considerable journey up to their nesting spots on the cliff tops—all while under the watchful eyes of predatory skuas. A brief stop is made at the Midway archipelago so we can observe the albatross. While undeniably graceful and elegant in flight, its attempts to take off and land are often quite funny. There’s a great deal of amusement to be had watching mating behaviors, and some of the camera work rivals what we'd expect from modern drone footage. This is among Disney’s stronger live-action offerings, displaying everything from crabs dancing to baby birds playing, and it provides an accessible and educational experience.
