Night Patrol, essentially an early version of Police Academy but geared toward adults and surprisingly humorous, manages to be genuinely funny. The writing is sharp, the dialogue clever, and the comedic elements explore some unexpected territory, even if a significant portion of it feels excessive. Describing it as pushing boundaries doesn't quite capture how far it goes. Director Jackie Kong, previously responsible for unusual films such as The Being and Blood Diner, proved to be an ideal choice to direct this bizarre police comedy. Although much of the humor lands well, the final scenes significantly detract from the overall experience. It’s a decent comedy that tries too aggressively and ultimately descends into something mean-spirited and lowbrow. RottenPop is unable to wholeheartedly suggest watching it; however, if you're curious about some of the comedic moments, YouTube offers clips. The movie may also be accessible on platforms like Tubi and Plex. RottenPop awards this film a rating of one and a half stars. Viewer discretion is advised.
