Upon entering prison, Ruben, played by Ernesto Reyes, discovers that his cellmate, Carlos (Jesse Tayeh), is an unfriendly and intimidating presence, largely overlooked by other inmates. Over time, he adjusts to the environment, develops a friendship with his roommate, and they establish a small, clandestine operation. Their bond deepens in ways that feel more personal, but one of them is released, leaving the other behind. Eventually, the second man also gains release and, feeling abandoned, seeks out his friend, clearly hoping for a return to their previous connection. The narrative includes challenges related to both men’s lives and their families, though there's potential for resolution. The acting from Reyes and Tayeh is compelling as their characters navigate an unexpected exploration of sexuality that proves less adaptable than they initially thought. The blending of English and Spanish in the conversations feels natural, and the film demonstrates a clear attention to detail in its production design, maintaining simple (and sometimes graphic) visuals that let the personalities drive what is ultimately a direct and occasionally touching love story. It's something you might want to see.
