Teenage Girl: First Wheels feels like a clear nod to films from the eighties and nineties, like License to Drive and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. However, this film puts a focus on female characters. This independently produced movie has two very appealing central figures—they’re part of the band and take a classic 1966 Mustang without permission for a drive. While they are out, they find themselves noticed by police officers, a school tormentor, and some potential romantic interests. Alex (Claire Tablizo) and Claire (Jaeden Riley Juarez) eventually have to deal with the repercussions when their parents—there’s an amusing appearance from former child actor Corey Feldman—return home, but this gentle movie avoids any extreme content like violence or depictions of drug use or sex; there's only a bit of kissing and one unsuccessful effort to purchase beer at a local store. Teenage Girl: First Wheels is an enjoyable way to spend some time and should be liked by younger viewers.
