A man turns up dead during an auction featuring a large statue valued at around $50,000! The protagonist finds himself in trouble when he accidentally shoots into a crowd, instantly making him the prime suspect for "Insp. Farraday" (Richard Lane) and his somewhat simple-minded partner, "Matthews" (Walter Sande). What follows is an hour where Chester Morris and "The Runt" (George E. Stone) work to clear his name and catch the real criminals—a pursuit that includes a clandestine location, a complex scheme, and a peculiar way of getting rid of a body! Harriet Nelson appears as "Diane," adding some visual appeal but not much else, and the entire story steadily escalates to a level of absurdity that even a young child could unravel. These movies never had any real suspense, but this one truly stands out for its silliness, and I found it entertaining nonetheless.
