I recently saw Confession, and from the beginning, it held my attention. I’m a fan of Chris Pine; I consider him to be a talented performer. The film was initially quite captivating, and that quality lasted throughout its duration. However, there were aspects that didn't sit well with me. Without revealing too much, I found myself frustrated by the accused priest—as mentioned in the description, so it’s not a spoiler—because I felt he could have spoken up without violating his commitments. The detective seemed to skip important steps while investigating the crime; he appeared determined to believe the priest was guilty. It also seems to me that they should have developed more of a backstory for his dislike or distrust of priests. I can be understanding toward the director, knowing he wrote this when he was just fourteen at a prep school and directed it in his early twenties. I’d give him credit for trying. Overall, it's still an engaging story and worth watching if you’re looking for some mystery. I’m curious to hear what other people thought of it.
