It's funny how universally unpleasant alarm clocks seem to be; it’s easy to see why so many people start their days in a bad mood when those jarring devices are what wake them up. We depend on technology for countless things—trains, traffic signals, elevators, computers at work—it’s hard to imagine life without these conveniences. Then there's the image of a blackbird finding a worm, seemingly a simple event. But is it really? Will this feed its chicks, or will something unexpected disrupt everything? This brief film really makes you consider how reliant we are on systems and processes, and just how easily things can fall apart when those routines get disrupted. I’m probably reading too much into it, but the film definitely prompts that kind of thought.
