There wasn’t really enough substance to elevate this into something worthwhile. *The Legend of Lobo* has some charming animal moments and presents a few diverting scenarios, however, given its 67-minute length and the absence of developed characters, it's difficult to engage with as a film. Similar to *Nikki, Wild Dog of the North*, it feels too much like a documentary; though I will concede that this one is better than that earlier movie. The predictable worries about animal treatment surface, but it does appear to be an improvement over the 1961 production. Rex Allen functions adequately as a narrator, and the musical score is acceptable. Despite the undeniably cute visuals of the animals, there just isn’t enough here for me to consider it a film worth seeing.
