The romantic elements felt superfluous and detracted from what was otherwise a solid war movie; still, I must admit that if I’d lived then, I would have tried to win Dana Wynter's affections. My appreciation was heightened because Edmond O'Brien is one of my favorite actors. It's recommended viewing for those who enjoy films from this period or war movies specifically. Those who admire any of the performers or director Koster should consider buying it and watching it again.
