It's curious how Reg Park embodied the role of the strongman compelled – due to a mystical bracelet – into mining labor under the command of the unpleasant “Queen Fazira” (Wandisa Guida), following his journey far into the jungle to free other captives. They’re all working intensely, anticipating discovery of the fabled treasure belonging to a biblical ruler, though so far their efforts haven't yielded much success. She’s growing impatient for results, so he needs to hurry up or, ideally, find a way to break the spell controlling him so he can begin smashing the flimsy backdrops and participate in the fighting. Aside from the low-budget feel and the dialogue that feels forced, that seems to be the central issue. The action is mostly confined to the final portion of the film, and by then the narrative has become very predictable. There are some advantages to be found in the studio sets, which display a degree of creativity that elevates the appearance beyond many similar productions; however, they don't capitalize on authentic African settings, and the theatrical style of the storytelling diminishes much of the film’s momentum or individuality. It feels like a combination of different concepts and familiar narratives stretched out longer than ninety minutes.
