I found myself liking this one just barely, and with a sense of disappointment, because I’m such a fan of classic noir and both of the main actors. Errol Flynn and Barbara Stanwyck are performers who possess a real magnetism—when they're playing characters on the same side, you expect intense chemistry; if they're adversaries, you anticipate sparks flying. Instead, their portrayals felt strangely subdued, almost as though they were going through the motions. It seems the problem rests with both the directing and the writing. Consequently, I can only offer a very mild endorsement. This film contains what is, to my knowledge, the weakest performances either of them has ever given.
