I've always heard it was wrong, something shameful, from a young age. People have claimed the Earth is without curves, that Jesus turned liquid into wine, that Martians had flippers, that Chinese people used to drown their kids... if we remembered everything we were taught when we were little, we’d still be offering young women to sun deities. This is a wonderful film about accepting who you are and watching parents come around. It's sharp, it’s smart, and I found myself applauding every success. I feel so good walking out of this movie. It's chaotic but in a delightful way. What an incredible find. And that scene where they drank alcohol together, clasped hands, shouted "we are pretty, we are proud, we are lesbians!" then gave each other high fives and bolted off to tell their parents? Truly transformative.
