The film’s final portion creates considerable anxiety. Following a robbery, three criminals trap the bank manager and his colleague inside the vault with the stolen money. Their intention to free them later doesn't go as intended when one of the robbers dies, placing the responsibility on the other two – Griff (played by Derren Nesbitt) and Len (Keith Faulkner) – to get back and unlock the door before law enforcement arrives and they are charged with murder. While the performances aren’t particularly remarkable, Vernon Sewell successfully generates a palpable sense of suspense. It's nearly enough to make you want to ventilate the entire room. The overall experience is stronger than individual elements suggest, and despite being improved by trimming roughly fifteen minutes from the center, it offers a distinctive and engaging variation on the standard crime narrative.
