This war-era crime story felt less like it was assembled and more like it was pieced together painstakingly. The awkward transitions between scenes, the noticeable pauses, and the pointless phone calls really slowed things down. A lot of the action happens in a bar, and I’m wondering if Strauss got paid for all that screen time. It's mostly a disappointing movie with a truly depressing musical score. The basic idea is that some Nazi spies are after a confidential formula to improve fuel, so they attempt to kidnap, bribe, or blackmail the American scientists developing it – but these determined researchers aren’t just going to give in! Will they manage to stop this evil scheme? Hans von Twardowski is funny (or at least I think he's supposed to be), and Constance Worth, playing "Pavlo," seems as stiff as the furniture she spends so much time sitting on. The ending does offer a surprise, but ultimately it’s just an average film that should probably remain forgotten.
