This thriller has more substance than you might expect at first glance. The story begins with "Dixie Logan" (played by Robert Kent) being falsely accused of murder, orchestrated by the dishonest District Attorney "Dale" (Edmund MacDonald). It then becomes “Marian’s” job, portrayed by Luana Walters, to accept a position as his secretary and work her way into his circle, alongside an investigative reporter named "Mitchell" (Russell Wade), with the goal of exposing the corruption. As you might guess, there isn't much suspense; the plot reveals who committed what early on, and it’s simple to predict how things will end, including a predictable romantic development that redefines the term “quickie quota.” The performances are acceptable but not remarkable, as is the script itself. However, William Berke does a decent job of keeping the pace brisk, lasting just over an hour, and there are even some well-staged fight scenes! It’s typical entertainment for an afternoon showing—perhaps slightly above average.
