While driving one evening, Martin (Griffith Jones) stops to give two people a ride, only to discover they are escaped convicts being sought by law enforcement. They’re unaware he knows their secret, and are surprised when he suggests a deal: he'll provide them with funds and an exit from the country if they agree to kill his wife, Kay (Maureen Connell). Connors (Marc Lawrence), the more aggressive of the two, quickly accepts, and his companion Sven (George Mikell) follows suit. They then go to Martin’s house where a scheme is put together for him to get paid while they carry out the killing. Predictably, things don't unfold as intended—the police are searching for the escapees, and his wife isn’t someone easily intimidated. The story has an intriguing setup due to its apparent improvisation. However, once everyone is trapped inside the house, the storyline begins to fall apart, with excessive panic arising when Connors decides that killing isn't the only crime he wants to commit. Although the final ten minutes offer a degree of resolution, the film had largely lost its momentum by that point. I did find it enjoyable enough, but the story could have benefited from tighter direction and a group of capable supporting actors who delivered acceptable performances in what was ultimately a production with unrealized promise.
