The film initially seemed promising, though the poor audio recording and mixing severely hampered enjoyment. It's more than a minor issue; frequently, viewers are left to guess at what "Luke" (Edward Hayter) and his friend “Tommy” (Freddie Thorp) are saying, which can be quite frustrating. These characters share an ambition: to leave behind the dreary reality of their lives in London and move to America. One of them is increasingly drawn into a world involving petty crime and drugs, though he’s kept in check by his friendship with "Luke." “Luke” resides with his parents, endures regular beatings from his father, and has a girlfriend named “Nikki” (Diana Vickers), whom he finds difficult to fully commit to. Tommy doesn't care for Nikki, and jealousy quickly arises, triggering a chain of deceit that threatens everyone involved. Essentially, it feels like an extended short story. While Hayter and Thorp perform adequately when sharing scenes together, the rest of the production struggles to distinguish itself from numerous other gritty London-based dramas—dramas which often seem to sensationalize plots we've encountered before. The film was evidently made on a limited budget, and while the visuals are acceptable and the story’s core themes of loyalty and recklessness are present, the narrative loses momentum once established. It brought to mind “Shank” (2009), but without the same depth or intensity.
