I’ve always enjoyed Richard Pryor’s performances, but this one makes me question whether its release was justified. It appears that even comedians can have nights where they aren't at their best, and that seemed to be what happened here. Perhaps the filming conditions were a factor, or possibly the size of the audience didn't provide enough energy. It appeared from my perspective that the people watching weren’t sure how to react. There wasn't much humor present, and it felt like Pryor was directing his frustration toward the viewers, similar to what occurred during his performance for the National Gay Association. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if this particular show had never been shared.
