A robbery gone wrong sets the plot in motion when several young men find themselves responsible for the death of a farmhouse owner and forced to hold his secretary captive. Her son, a boy named "Petey" portrayed by Jerry Mathers, manages to flee and appears at his father's side – a police officer called “Atlas,” played by Philip Carey – but is unable to communicate anything. The parents are separated, leaving the officer unaware of his son’s whereabouts or the location of his estranged wife, “Linda,” brought to life by Betty Garrett. The audience knows Linda is being held captive, and as her captors become increasingly anxious and intoxicated, a palpable sense of danger surrounds her while law enforcement attempts to locate her, completely oblivious to her situation. Will they manage to reach her before it's too late? There are moments when the film moves along at a decent clip, building tension within the house as the young men’s composure begins to crack. However, the acting is disappointingly weak; Carey seems disinterested in his role, and while Garrett makes an effort to portray fear as the imprisoned secretary, events toward the end feel contrived and ultimately lead to an anticlimactic resolution.
