This was quite enjoyable, potentially Disney’s strongest live-action production since around 1965. *The Boatniks* held my interest from beginning to end; it moves along briskly because of an appealing story and a well-selected group of performers. I initially questioned how the two storylines would merge, but they managed to keep things interesting and entertaining. Robert Morse (as Garland) and Stefanie Powers (as Kate) work together really well, and their relationship felt believable. Beyond those two, Phil Silvers (Harry), Norman Fell (Max), and Mickey Shaughnessy (Charlie) provide most of the laughs; these characters aren’t groundbreaking or original, but they are funny—particularly considering what happens to them. The movie has a good rhythm, consistently amusing humor, and a cast that was clearly chosen with care. It's worth checking out.
