There’s something almost agreeable about *I Love You Anne*, though it falls short of being truly good. To be straightforward, my biggest issue with the film lies with the portrayal of the father; Daniel Fils Aimé’s performance felt exaggerated—it seems to carry over from his public persona—and the character himself was quite bothersome. The filmmakers didn't even manage to make Bicha’s behavior more palatable. The romance, mixed as it is with elements of crime, works reasonably well. I think the movie would have been better off focusing entirely on Anne, Don Kato, and those criminals, with the father appearing in a smaller part; Fresnel Larosilière would have been a much better choice for that role. Regarding the villains, they succeeded in making them thoroughly unpleasant—I really didn't like them. It’s possible the film could be trimmed down a bit too, though. Overall, it wasn't an awful movie, but it just didn't quite deliver enough to win me over completely.
