The film opens with Barbara Stanwyck as "Ann" caught in a raid and entangled with "Devereaux" (Rod La Rocque), resulting in her being photographed by the police. Some time later, she's happily married to “Lawrence” (William Boyd) and sharing his home with his sister, “Helen” (Betty Bronson). Trouble begins when Helen falls for the charming but dishonest "Devereaux," prompting Ann’s efforts to stop it. However, things aren't straightforward; "Devereaux" is not only a rogue but also possesses information that could destroy the stability of Ann’s current life. Simultaneously, Lawrence learns of his sister’s association with this questionable character, leading to an unexpected visit and setting the stage for a confrontation involving the police, a comical switchboard operator (Zasu Pitts), and many others. Stanwyck's performance is noticeable—not necessarily because it’s exceptional, but because she significantly surpasses the quality of the other actors. The plot moves at a reasonable speed, ultimately leading to an ending that isn't entirely predictable. It's a tale centered on love, desire, and faithfulness that manages to entertain for about an hour.
