This installment definitely has trouble finding its footing. This time around, the daughter, Frances (played by Frances Chan), assists “Pop” in looking into strange happenings at the residence of "Birmingham Brown’s" (Mantan Moreland) new bosses; Brown having recently been released by "Charlie," who is eager to return to Honolulu. When a woman's hypnotism goes too far, there’s a rush to stop whoever is behind it all before anyone else gets hurt. Moreland seems to be pushing things, and his silliness feels forced and unnatural; while he can be irritating at times, it doesn't quite measure up to "Jimmy." The psychic/occult angle has served these films well, but this one perhaps attempts to extract a bit too much from an already depleted concept—I wonder if that’s a “Charlie-ism”? I felt like it dragged on. It does have moments of suspense, and it's not awful – it just seems to be missing some essential elements.
