Lee, the exceptionally skilled son, finds one of his paintings on display at a Paris gallery. For reasons that aren’t entirely obvious, he and his father journey from their home to France, stopping in Monaco along the way. There they meet Police Commissioner Joubert, who is quite stylish, and quickly become entangled in a scheme to steal bearer bonds valued at $1m. It becomes apparent that the conflict between Karnoff and Savarin, alongside some romantic complications, are contributing to the unfolding events as the father and son try to uncover what's happening. As expected, the son’s comedic moments provide entertainment, especially when matched with Huber’s flamboyant portrayal and the mystery itself is diverting, even if it isn’t particularly suspenseful. Having spent time in Monaco over the years, I must point out one problem with the story – getting a taxi that easily simply doesn't happen; not even one that shoots flames from its exhaust.
