This documentary’s title sets up expectations that it doesn't fulfill, as it follows a group of Bulgarian Romany men who have moved to Vienna in search of work. With limited German language skills and lacking qualifications for most jobs, they’ve found themselves catering to gay men seeking dominance. The film avoids showing any explicit acts, instead focusing on conversations among about six men discussing their earnings and how easily they can make hundreds or even thousands of euros through brief encounters. Despite their apparent financial success, their lives don't reflect it; they are frequently intoxicated, arguing, and generally behaving in a monotonous way while talking about buying wives, or having affairs—with both the men who pay them and with prostitutes—and taking pride in feeling secure as they consider whether to remain in Austria or return home. Moments of camaraderie appear, but much of the footage is dark and the audio is poor, making it difficult to understand who’s speaking to whom, what their relationships are, and whose comments actually make sense. The locals seem only mildly welcoming of this new group of men, anticipating more arrivals at the cafe “Rüdiger” next week or the one after that. While the film does offer insight into a community where marriage and parenthood often involve financial transactions and where fathers and husbands prioritize their own freedom, I lost interest fairly early on, around thirty minutes into the ninety-minute runtime, as none of them proved particularly engaging.
