It's hard to tell what’s genuine and what’s just manufactured in this series. Anyone familiar with the world of the unexplained in Britain has heard of Harry Price. Seeing his name connected to a film or television project immediately piques interest, but in this case, it feels more like a hindrance than an advantage. Like Guy Ritchie's reimagining of Sherlock Holmes, where the characters could have been any pair of friends regardless of their famous names—the labels are almost beside the point because they support the idea being presented—this production could easily follow the story of a British paranormal investigator without relying on Price’s name to draw viewers. The show is an adequate thriller, with appealing period details and predictable writing. Although Rafe Spall seems like an unusual choice for the role of Price, he delivers a solid performance. The pacing can be slow at times, occasionally bordering on being crude in its exploration of paranormal themes. For those unfamiliar with the actual Harry Price, it’s probably enjoyable enough. However, people who are knowledgeable about Price will likely find it unsatisfactory. 6/10
