This movie was… something. I’m not entirely sure what to make of it, honestly. It's presented as a horror film, but it feels more like an extended, unsettling mood piece. The premise itself isn't groundbreaking – a group of friends on a road trip encounter a mysterious figure and things go wrong – but the way it unfolds is definitely strange. The pacing is incredibly slow; there’s a lot of just… existing. Long stretches of driving, quiet moments in their rented car, lingering shots of landscapes. It's not bad, per se, but if you're expecting jump scares or constant thrills, you will be disappointed. The tension builds gradually, more like a sense of dread creeping under your skin than anything overtly frightening. The performances are fine; everyone seems to understand the tone they’re going for, which is detached and unsettling. There wasn't really anyone I felt particularly invested in, though, so when things started to escalate, it didn't hit as hard as it probably could have. The cinematography is pretty bleak and washed-out, which contributes to the overall atmosphere of unease. It’s all very gray and muted, reflecting the emotional state of the characters, I guess. The ending… well, it's an ending. It doesn’t really offer any answers or explanations; it just kind of stops. Which might be the point, but I also found it a bit frustrating. Ultimately, *Never Let Go* isn’t a terrible movie, but it’s not exactly enjoyable either. It’s more like an experience – one that will likely leave you feeling confused and vaguely disturbed.
