An archaeological dig led by American paleontologist Roy Chapman Andrews in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert during 1922 revealed what became recognized as one of the most significant collections of dinosaur remains globally. Circumstances related to political issues prevented him from continuing his work, even though he felt he had only just begun to explore the potential discoveries there. Twenty years later, in 1997, scientists from the American Museum of Natural History received permission to revisit the area and follow up on Chapman’s initial efforts, resulting in some remarkable new findings. The film uses stunning footage shot where the events took place, historical material from Chapman's earlier expedition, and sophisticated animated sequences to create a captivating experience that transports viewers to a prehistoric environment inhabited by massive creatures.
