It appears this movie exists primarily because Prabhu Deva and Raghava Lawrence were involved, and now we have Sridhar, another choreographer, attempting to be a leading man. While he's visible during some of the musical numbers, he lacks the charm or presence that would make audiences want him as their hero. He portrays Marudhu, someone whose main occupation is tricking Kaali (played by Singampuli, who isn’t particularly amusing), an NRI with aspirations to become a village councilor. Following familiar Tamil cinema tropes, this seemingly useless character finds romance with a pretty woman (Spoorthi) and undergoes a transformation into a responsible person after a family tragedy motivates him to pursue those at fault. Unfortunately for Sridhar, the film is as grating as it is irritating. The actual story doesn’t begin until roughly thirty minutes in, and before that point, viewers are subjected to Marudhu and his friends' ridiculous antics while they take Kaali for a ride. Kaali is so gullible that he hands over money whenever Marudhu’s group asks for it. This functions as the film’s attempt at comedy, and the only humorous aspect is the director’s misguided belief that using older songs will automatically make something funny. Even when the plot starts to become clear, the script and filmmaking are incredibly poor. After Marudhu discovers that alcohol caused the groom's death, we're treated to a string of fight scenes. He hits one person to get information, then goes after that person’s supplier, repeating this pattern until he finally confronts the villain and his associates. As if the opening narration and required legal warnings weren’t enough, the film hammers home the same message at the very end – drinking is bad for you and those around you. Considering the current push for prohibition in the state, the movie has a timely theme (Kaali even states he doesn't need female votes and will win if only drinkers vote), but that's where its value ends.
