Charlie and his assistant, Jimmy, find themselves caught up in inquiries surrounding what seems to be the suicide of a friend, Paul, while traveling on a flight headed for San Francisco. However, things quickly suggest there’s more to the situation than initially meets the eye – a page is missing from a manuscript Paul was writing, which directs their attention toward the secretive Dr. Zodiak, who asserts he possesses significant psychic abilities. What follows is a skillfully developed mystery filled with supernatural elements, blackmail schemes, and bolstered by a strong ensemble including Pauline Moore as Eve and Cesar Romero portraying Rhadini, another mind reader. The suspense in this enjoyable story is amplified through eerie settings and the imposing appearance of Zodiak; it’s clear considerable work went into creating the film, leading to an unexpected resolution involving a vintage iron maiden. This stands out as one of the stronger entries within the series.
