It’s clear Perez has a fondness for Tyson, and I’m beginning to see his appeal too; he’s fun when you want to thoroughly critique something, because he gives you plenty of chances to find fault with nearly everything he does. This film follows the familiar cabin-in-the-woods plot, featuring young adults who fit the typical attractive profile. However, it lacks the humor that Sam Raimi would have brought to distinguish it, and it's short on the kind of adult content other directors might have included to make it entertaining. It also fails to deliver the sadistic edge and excessive gore that some filmmakers would use to enhance its appeal. Ultimately, what remains is a lifeless horror movie, badly written and poorly made, with Richard Tyson trying unsuccessfully to elevate it. He’s managed this in previous Perez projects, but not this time.
