It’s clear that Reverse Darwinism is at play here – survival of the most idiotic. Following the events of Jurassic Park, Dr. Alan Grant seemed content, unwilling to return to any of InGen's islands. However, Paul and Amanda Kirby, searching for their son, managed to bring him to Isla Sorna without his knowledge, setting the stage for dinosaurs to reclaim a developed world. The film’s actual length is roughly 83 minutes, which suggests director Joe Johnston (Jumanji) felt compelled to move swiftly, complete what was needed, and leave quickly. Jurassic Park 3 feels like a rushed production; the basic premise involves introducing irritating characters onto an island and observing their attempts to avoid being eaten by dinosaurs. It’s remarkable that Sam Neil and William H. Macy agreed to participate given the quality of the script. Perhaps they were tricked as well, just as Dr. Grant's character is in the film. Despite its flaws, it isn't a terrible movie. Johnston understood what audiences wanted—dinosaur action—and didn’t delay unleashing the creatures on the group. Even though the film caters to a younger audience (leaning towards an adventure with chases rather than intense monster scares), it's quite entertaining. You might wish Téa Leoni’s character would become dinosaur food, and you may find yourself unexpectedly laughing during Alessandro Nivola’s scenes (is that a nod to Superman?). Ultimately, the enjoyment is largely due to the dinosaurs themselves and the film’s brief duration, which helps overlook its shortcomings. It earns a 5/10.
