Saravanan, an aspiring TV star and currently a host of a program of that nature, arrives in the city with ambitions but finds himself stuck anchoring less desirable content on a major channel. He harbors resentment toward Kasinathan, who is given the opportunity to present the network’s most popular shows. Simultaneously, Saravanan owes money to someone who deals harshly with those who fail to pay—namely, by burning their backsides with a hot iron (the reasons behind his debt are never really explained). Then there's Deepika, his girlfriend, whom he suspects of infidelity. After a night of heavy drinking with friends, he confides in Mark, a hitman, who, feeling sorry for him, proposes to eliminate the three people causing Saravanan distress. However, when Saravanan and his companions regain consciousness, they discover they are locked up and have no memory of what happened the previous evening! As murders start occurring, Saravanan must locate Mark and prevent him from harming Deepika. The plot draws parallels to films like *The Hangover* and *Strangers on a Train*, as one character even observes. Expectations for *Ivanuku Thannila Gandam* are high—a darkly humorous film is anticipated—but it frequently resembles an extended, occasionally amusing television program adapted for the big screen. The acting is passable, but the movie relies significantly on Naan Kadavul Rajendran’s brand of comedy, which some might find repetitive by now. It's a production that mistakes inexperience for coolness and uses crude jokes (such as referring to an overweight woman as "a dinosaur egg") for humor.
