This film really doesn't work out well. The performances aren’t good at all. The characters feel lifeless and indistinct, each seeming to strain for an air of coolness. With the possible exception of the character who frequently suffers from foot cramps, everyone falls into this trap. The action sequences are disappointing; many strikes miss their mark entirely. They seem to rely on shaky camera work to hide just how poorly choreographed everything is. The actors’ portrayals are exaggerated, particularly the villains, who are simply awful. As someone who enjoys the High & Low films (with the exception of DTC –Yukemuri Junjo Hen– which I find terrible), my biggest issue lies with the soundtrack. Since the cast members come from a J-pop group, it's strange that there isn’t any exciting music. The High & Low movies featured some fantastic tracks, and the music is a significant reason why I like them. This film just lacks anything memorable. The constant posing is irritating. From a technical standpoint, this looks very unprofessional. It’s best to skip this one and rewatch a High & Low movie instead.
