Kishore, played by Srinivas Avasarala, is a Telugu expatriate living in California who returns to India with the goal of becoming a film director. He intends to create something unique, but someone suggests that he should instead try a love story, given their popularity. To find inspiration, Kishore views decades’ worth of Telugu romance films, but struggles to discover anything truly original. While visiting a park, he encounters Apparao Aggarwal (Sayaji Shinde), a college professor, who recounts a story about two students in his communications class. Shyam (Varun Sandesh) and Anshu (Sanchita Padukone) share a circle of mutual friends. After Apparao observes Anshu dismounting Shyam’s motorcycle, he questions them about their relationship. They deny any involvement, but the professor's inquiry quickly spreads throughout the college, leading to public humiliation for Apparao. He then resolves to orchestrate a romance between Anshu and Shyam in order to restore his reputation. His repeated attempts to force them together—including sending a fabricated love letter from Shyam to Anshu—all fail, resulting in further embarrassment until he eventually abandons the effort. During a trip to Cudappah with Anshu, Shyam, and their friends, they meet a bird photographer who shares the belief that true beauty lies within a person’s character, not their appearance. This prompts Shyam to reconsider his desire for a partner resembling Katrina Kaif; he realizes he should value inner qualities above outward looks and recognizes his feelings for Anshu. Following their return, Shyam persuades Anshu to reciprocate his affections, and they become engaged. However, they unexpectedly end the engagement before the wedding day. Kishore then seeks out Shyam to understand why the relationship ended. Shyam explains that after the engagement, he was required to spend six months in Bangalore for work. There, he developed an attraction to his boss, Sunaina (Catherine Tresa), who also resembles Katrina Kaif. After three months, Anshu made a surprise visit and discovered Shyam’s connection with Sunaina, mistakenly believing it was an affair. She reveals that her unexpected trip to Bangalore was prompted by Shyam forgetting her birthday. Subsequently, Shyam repeatedly pleaded for forgiveness at Anshu's home. Kishore then sends Shyam back to Bangalore to meet Sunaina. Accompanied by Sunaina and his parents, Shyam visits Anshu’s house with the intention of calling off the engagement and announcing their marriage to Sunaina instead. Angered by this revelation, Anshu challenges Sunaina to provide assurance that Shyam won't betray her again. Sunaina clarifies that she and Shyam were simply friends and that it was Anshu who ended the relationship. Shyam retrieves Anshu’s wedding ring—which she had previously thrown at him during her visit to Bangalore—and asks if she will marry him. Realizing this entire situation was a carefully planned scheme, Anshu agrees. Apparao and Kishore emerge from their hiding place. Sunaina congratulates Kishore on his clever plan. Kishore is pleased that his film is complete. Apparao suggests naming the movie "Chammak Challo," meaning beautiful girl.
