"CHRISTMAS RIDE" is an enjoyable film that works well at any time of year. The movie carries viewers beyond its basic storyline. Initially, it captivates with unfamiliar actors and a straightforwardness typical of independent films originating in Tennessee. Then, it wins over audiences with more unexpected developments than you’d find on a rough country road. Finally, it delivers powerful moments combining relatable humor and sadness. This feature film carries a PG rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. The Dove Foundation awarded it their Faith and Family Seals for ages twelve and up. If there were an award given to films encouraging safer driving practices by the National Department of Transportation, this movie would certainly be considered for top recognition. The story connects with the pain of losing loved ones due to dangerous driving and war. Viewers are confronted with truth and consequences while experiencing events alongside the main characters. The film also explores how faith is tested when faced with such devastating circumstances. The narrative takes place twenty-five years in the past, before cell phones were commonplace. However, single parenting was already a reality; a parent could spend hours discussing caution or responsibility with teenagers and likely not have as much impact as this movie does. Fortunately, the film also incorporates some surprising moments of levity. With appeal across different age groups, "CHRISTMAS RIDE" avoids the overly sentimental aspects often associated with Christmas movies. It presents a genuine story about supernatural events influencing everyday lives. The 108-minute film is available in a 2K Digital Cinema Print format for theaters. It successfully completed test screenings in Los Angeles County and qualified as an Academy Award eligible film.
