It's a surprisingly enjoyable melodrama centered around Dennis Price’s portrayal of the deceitful and timid "Sir Francis Castleton," scheming to take "Oriana" (Anne Crawford) away from her intended, Stewart Granger ("Darrell"), who is tasked with returning a precious necklace to Spain. The storyline is packed with incidents, unexpected developments, theft, memory loss, and disloyalty—and thankfully features Jean Kent as the playful Gypsy "Rosal," possessing an alluring charm (though she seems clumsy when dancing). Crawford’s performance feels somewhat detached as the female lead; the conversations are occasionally overly sentimental, and certain scenes feel excessively staged given their locations. Nevertheless, it remains a captivating production with satisfying resolutions for everyone involved.
