It's certainly a gradual unfolding of events with “Jax” (Nadine Marshall), “Mark” (Idris Elba), and their young son “JJ” (Kai Francis Lewis) residing in a comfortable London house. Following a health concern, she receives perplexing medical information that creates conflict as she tries to process it alongside her husband, child, and personal sense of self. "JJ" is looking forward to what's coming, but his father senses something isn’t right and grows wary about the possibility of infidelity. She insists she hasn’t been unfaithful, so the question becomes: what's truly happening? My issue arose from the unrealized potential of this central mystery. It could have delved into mystical elements or unusual medical phenomena—or even simpler explanations—but instead, the narrative settles for a predictable family drama that feels illogical considering its initial premise. We’ve encountered similar relationship conflicts in many films before, and despite some chemistry between the actors, the story fails to progress, nor do their characters evolve, even after an unsatisfying conclusion. There's a lot of talking but not much laughter, and ultimately I felt too much of the story's unique aspects were left for the audience to fill in—if they chose to bother. The unremarkable music doesn’t improve things either, and I was just generally let down.
