He may not appear to be in peak physical condition, but he went through a marriage with a goose and raised five goslings together before she felt the need to move south for the winter, taking her young ones along. Considering how much he seems to breathe—around 70 times each day—it doesn't seem likely that he’d be able to join them on their journey, but he's willing to try. It's a charming animated film utilizing a technique resembling ink blots to depict the story of these birds from when they first hatched through fishing and ultimately their extended flight, showcasing considerable imagination. The black-and-white visuals are surprisingly touching because we only perceive the water or sky through the presence of some (sustaining) fish or by observing the sun and moon as they journey onward. This Eskimo tale about family, mutual support, and perseverance could carry numerous lessons—or it might simply be a straightforward story intended for children.
