After his character, "Poiccard/Kovacs," steals a car, kills a police officer, and finds himself seeking shelter with a journalism student named "Patricia" (Jean Seberg), Jean-Paul Belmondo is often seen in just his boxers throughout the film. Patricia doesn't fully grasp the severity of the situation he’s in when he begins trying to persuade her that money is on its way and they should relocate to Italy. The police are also aware of who he is, with his picture appearing on every newspaper in Paris, making a peaceful escape seem increasingly unlikely—particularly given his complete lack of awareness as he moves around the city in plain sight. It's inevitable that "Patricia" will eventually discover the truth about him, but her reaction remains to be seen. The film largely focuses on these two characters, and they work well together as the narrative progresses. Seberg’s character is appealing, and it's understandable why she would be drawn to this mysterious and charming criminal who doesn't seem particularly threatening—he has roughly the same level of danger as a soggy cabbage. A lighthearted interview scene with the writer "Parvulesco" (Jean-Pierre mMlville)—a rather self-important person who states his goal is to achieve immortality and then die—is also enjoyable. Perhaps “Poiccard” might have viewed things similarly, although maybe not the part about dying just yet. Now, concerning the editing. It’s a bit haphazard. Was this intentional or simply the result of an intern using sticky tape and a dull blade? This is another thing to consider regarding this unusual and amusing crime drama with a twist.
