Leslie Howard provided narration for this brief film documenting Polish people who had been displaced from their country by the Nazis. The story follows these individuals, now residing in various parts of the United Kingdom, and shows how easily they adapted – even with a language difference – and how committed they were to preparing for when they could assist in freeing Poland. The movie also portrays how the British population was coping with the devastation caused by World War II, incorporating historical footage of pre-and post-war Warsaw, General Sikorsky, King George VI, and their subsequent challenges. This provides a compassionate look at how these uprooted people contributed and attempted to do what they could to resist. While it’s essentially a propaganda film, because many of those featured were actual victims, it feels more authentic than some of the other wartime morale boosters that existed.
