Pete Smith films are typically something I enjoy, however, this one felt surprisingly lackluster. The commentator's characteristic wry observations were swapped out for something that seemed forced, while the display of weaponry belonging to American soldiers unfolded—each gun appearing larger and more precise as the ten minutes dragged on in a repetitive sequence. Predictable boasts about being "the best in the world" are present, naturally, and it all has a leisurely feel when there’s no action happening, so maybe it could function as a way to lift spirits for viewers at home adjusting to FDR's new policies regarding military equipment; but beyond that, it's familiar footage paired with commentary that isn't quite up to par.
