This "Porky Pig" cartoon is essentially a short film intended to boost morale during wartime, with the stated purpose of showing us some classified newsreel footage. It begins with an amusing opening sequence reminiscent of RKO’s “Daffy Duck” style logos, but quickly turns into an awkwardly assembled animated piece celebrating the strength of the American armed forces. There's a faint attempt at humor here and there – like a "Spitfire" that functions as intended – but the jokes aren't particularly good, and the stereotypes become tiresome fairly quickly. I understand that in 1941 it had a specific function to fulfill, and perhaps it accomplished that adequately; however, viewed now, it ranks low among wartime propaganda films, unfortunately.
