Boris Karloff’s appearance, which is strikingly exaggerated in makeup, really prevents this unremarkable murder-mystery from fading into complete oblivion. He plays the detective "Mr. Wong," investigating a killer responsible for at least three deaths. The main problem with watching it is that the picture and sound quality are so rudimentary; it's hard to even grasp what’s going on, let alone form any judgments about it. It feels like being guided through this rather staged drama as an infant, without any chance to engage actively. I suppose the production costs were minimal, and I am happy to have viewed it—though mostly because of its connection to films from the late 1930s, not for anything particularly noteworthy.
