This Bob Steele western adventure, directed by Robert Bradbury, manages to be surprisingly entertaining. Steele’s character comes back from WWI, which causes a big stir because everyone assumed he was dead—even though he'd been writing letters to his father the whole time. He wants to simply get on with things, settling down with "Mary" (Margaret Marquis) and his father (Charles French). Naturally, it’s not that simple. It doesn't take long for him to figure out that the local postman, “Kent” (Charles King), was the one who messed with his mail, and this is just the beginning of Kent’s scheme to steal their cattle, cheat them out of their ranch, and try to win over the girl. The film moves along quickly, featuring plenty of action sequences, a small amount of romance, and more developed characters than you typically find in these low-budget productions. Steele always appeared better in promotional materials, but even he seems less stiff than normal—and overall, it’s pretty enjoyable.
