A budding performer named Tom finds herself excited by a lucrative short-term assignment—ten thousand dollars to pose as a businesswoman at a party while the real woman is unavailable; her husband will be there to help things run smoothly. Initially, everything proceeds without issue, but then she experiences an unsettling incident when a vehicle attempts to hit her. Dismissing this as unremarkable, she’s later shocked when a colleague who had spent the night with her suffers a violent attack and stabbing at their shared residence. Law enforcement is skeptical of her account, her agent proves unreliable, and the couple who arranged the job claim they don't recognize her. Frustrated by the lack of headway in the official investigation, she utilizes her acting abilities to conduct her own inquiries. Tom delivers a strong performance as the naive young woman, contributing significantly to the enjoyment of this bizarre story. The dynamic between Bacic and Ullerup portraying the manipulative pair is quite engaging, leaving one constantly wondering just how far their avarice and deception will extend. As often happens, filming took place in Canada to represent New York City.
