The story begins with a woman ascending stairs, only to find someone waiting in the doorway – then suddenly, an explosion! Law enforcement shows up at a secluded house, revealing she was the affluent spouse of a painter named "Howard" (Emyr Jones) who was having financial difficulties. Did their marriage have contentment? It’s now “Insp. Gregory's” (Patrick Holt) job to figure out what happened, which becomes more difficult when one of the artist’s models disappears; and that’s even before a surprising development occurs, scattering everything and leaving us with an elaborate and somewhat artificial puzzle. The rest of the program feels like it was intended to highlight Honor Blackman's acting abilities instead of presenting a believable mystery, and I confess I lost enthusiasm by the conclusion. It is clearly made on a limited budget, but Peter Maxwell’s uneven and uninspired direction doesn’t help matters; I regret to say.
