It's a gentle wartime comedy centered on Parker’s group of intelligence operatives who devise a plan to deceive the opposition by locating an imposter for the charming, upper-class officer Rix—a rather dim fellow who also happens to be Rix. The resulting situation is chaotic, though not particularly amusing. Rix appeared in several similar lighthearted films, but he wasn't nearly as skilled or original as Norman Wisdom, who was then Britain’s most popular comedic performer. Rix fared better with his consistent stage shows in London’s West End. As was common during that era, the film features a number of familiar and enjoyable comic supporting players; Fraser portrays a nightclub vocalist, and Phillips makes an appearance playing himself, as is his custom.
