This film, a fairly standard low-budget Western, presents an unusual situation because the familiar "Three Mesquiteer" characters aren't truly the focus of events. The narrative primarily follows 'Red' Barry ("Parker"), whose father has been taken advantage of by a dishonest politician, forcing his son to resort to theft to support his family. Things become more engaging when he makes off with cattle belonging to Wayne, Corrigan and Hatton, prompting them to step in and help him and his sister "Irene" (Pamela Blake). The initial pacing is slow; however, once the circumstances are established, the film progresses at a reasonable pace, showcasing slightly better rapport between Wayne and his female costar than typically seen. “Ming,” Charles Middleton, appears briefly as the unfortunate father, while LeRoy Mason delivers an acceptable but unremarkable performance as "Balsinger," the villainous figure in the story. The movie seems to be targeting some of the policies enacted by post-World War I U.S. governments, where unscrupulous individuals often gained power over those who had diligently worked during the war and were subsequently left exposed and susceptible to harsh treatment.
