This action movie feels like something we've seen before, an unoriginal exercise in the genre sustained mainly by solid, although entirely foreseeable, portrayals from Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones. Jones plays an Irish convict who broke out of prison with a desire for retribution against Bridges, who is presented as a bomb disposal specialist based in Boston. The film incorporates standard thriller elements: characters around the intended victim are eliminated, their families face intimidation, and the ending follows a formulaic action movie blueprint. Lloyd Bridges and Forest Whitaker also appear. It’s an agreeable enough way to spend some time – not particularly brimming with suspense or excitement, but competently paced and featuring sufficient action sequences to maintain interest, even if it could benefit from being trimmed by around twenty minutes.
